Biosignal Based Human-Machine Interface for Robotic Arm
نویسنده
چکیده
Human-robot interaction poses great challenges to disabled people who must be able to control the robot via a limited physical ability. A novel semi-autonomous humanrobot system where the robot requires only the commands from the human to perform its tasks as proposed. In this system a relatively more flexible and robust communication technique generates commands from Electromyogram (EMG) signals. Such an autonomous mobile humanoid robot will be able to assist in a workshop environment and interact with a human. Three aspects to reach this target are considered. First, how the brain (embedded system technologies) of the exoskeleton robot is constructed to be able to manipulate objects like humans do. Second, exploration of appropriate biosignals that can be used as an actuating quantity to move the Robotic Arm; and finally how programming of manipulation tasks are realized.

Control of a 2-DoF robotic arm using a P300-based brain-computer interface
In this study, a novel control algorithm, based on a P300-based brain-computer interface (BCI) is fully developed to control a 2-DoF robotic arm. Eight subjects including 5 men and 3 women perform a 2-dimensional target tracking in a simulated environment. Their EEG (Electroencephalography) signals from visual cortex are recorded and P300 components are extracted and evaluated to perform a real...
متن کاملA scalarization-based method for multiple part-type scheduling of two-machine robotic systems with non-destructive testing technologies
This paper analyzes the performance of a robotic system with two machines in which machines are configured in a circular layout and produce non-identical parts repetitively. The non-destructive testing (NDT) is performed by a stationary robotic arm located in the center of the circle, or a cluster tool. The robotic arm integrates multiple tasks, mainly the NDT of the part and its transition bet...
متن کاملAn analytical framework to measure effective human machine interaction
Initially, human machine interface (HMI) was understood as the hardware and software through which human and machine could communicate. Gradually, is being recognized that many human factors such as usability, emotion, user’s physical and cognitive characteristics, domain knowledge, contribute as much to the effectiveness and efficiency of HMIs as robust, reliable and sophisticated algorithms d...
متن کاملCentury Dynamic Technology: Anticipatory Brain Potentials and Robot Control
Brain-Machine Interface is a technology that allows people to control devices using only the bioelectrical signals from the brain. The challenge has been around since 1973, and the first experimental proof of the feasibility of the technology was given in 1988. However, the real worldwide interest was shown in the 21 st century. Currently, there are research laboratories and companies around th...

Brain-machine interfaces can greatly improve the performance of prosthetics. Utilizing biomimetic neuronal modeling in brain machine interfaces (BMI) offers the possibility of providing naturalistic motor-control algorithms for control of a robotic limb. This will allow finer control of a robot, while also giving us new tools to better understand the brain's use of electrical signals. However, ...
